With your content ready to be scheduled and your marketing campaigns as well (ideally), you can take some time to design your blog: choose a theme and work on the main elements.
A blog usually has four main elements:
- a header (logo, site title and primary menu)
- the “main” area (the content area, where you’ll find: the content of your posts or pages, or the list of posts if you’re looking at an Archive’s page)
- a sidebar. A place to add “widgets”, such as your latest posts; a a call to action (subscribe); links to your social media outlets. This is also called a “widget area”
- a footer. Used for your copyright information. Many themes also have a widget area in the footer.
Some themes, with a “clean” look, do not have a “widget area” at all.
WordPress offers a cool feature to test themes, so we’re going to get ready for that by adding to the layout of our blog what we want, first.
